New Nissan X-Trail

This is the all-new Nissan X-Trail and if you're struggling to tell the differences between this and the old one, you're not alone. Just trust us, it is new. Mind you, considering that the X-Trail has sold more than 600,000 units worldwide since its launch, maybe its hardly surprising that Nissan is sticking with an evolutionary design.

It's based on the new Renault-Nissan platform that will also underpin the forthcoming Renault Koleos 4x4 (see below) and it uses Renault's highly-praised new 2.0 dCi diesel in 150bhp and 173bhp forms. Two petrol engines will also be available, a 2.0 and a 2.5-litre, but not many of those will be bought, we reckon.

The new X-Trail can be had with Nissan's new Downhill Drive Support for descending steep slopes, and the interior looks like a massive improvement over the current model. It'll be on sale here by the autumn.
