Demonic appearance

Dodge has been trying to make a splash in the European market with aggressive styling, sharp pricing and funky advertising campaigns, but the cars we've seen so far (chiefly the Caliber hatchback) haven't been well-tuned to Euro-tastes.

But this, the Demon concept, could signal a sea change at Dodge. Out goes the Caliber's cheap brashness, in comes much more sophisticated design and an interior of vastly better quality than we've seen before from Dodge. It uses a 175bhp 2.4-litre engine and the concept is based on the same chassis as the Crossfire coupe. Dodge seems pretty serious about putting it into production, although it may have to find a better chassis than the lumpy Crossfire's if it wants to take on the Demon's biggest rival; the Mazda MX-5.

But even if the Demon doesn't make production as seen, it shows that Dodge is making the right moves as far as styling and quality are concerned.
