WTCC Goes Green

The FIA has announced that the World Touring Car Championship will run all its cars on bio-ethanol from the start of the 2009 season.

Series manufacturers BMW, Seat, Alfa Romeo and Chevrolet are already experimenting to find out what is the best grade of the environmentally friendly fuel to use, but it's not yet known if the series will appoint a named fuel supplier, or leave it up to the individual teams and their technical partners.

In similar news, Ford has announced that all future Formula Ford single-seat racing cars will be bio-ethanol fueled.
