Veloster concept previews new look for Hyundai

This is the Veloster concept car, shown by Hyundai at the Seoul motor show, and it's a significant indicator of where the once-budget Korean brand is heading.

Don't for a moment think that this is the replacement for the popular Hyundai Coupe in disguise. Although the next-gen coupe will probably use design cues from the Veloster, there is something more tantalising at work. Hyundai is planning an Audi TT rival, and that's what the Veloster is all about.

It's based on the same platform as the Kia Ceed and Hyundai's own new i30 hatchback and estate and uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. It's a ways off yet, but don't be surprised to see a TT rival very like this, with suitable quality and performance, appearing in a Hyundai showroom soon enough.
